Professional Experience
Dr. Makita is an associate at SUGIMURA. His practice encompasses patent prosecution in materials science and chemistry. Dr. Makita started his professional career at Sumitomo Special Metals, Co., Ltd. where he engaged in materials research focused on rare earth permanent magnets and methods of producing the same. He earned a Ph.D. degree in materials science and engineering from Kyoto University during this career. Prior to joining to SUGIMURA, Dr. Makita worked within the IP Department of Hitachi Metals, Ltd. where he drafted patent specifications and technical agreements in the fields of permanent magnets, cast iron, pipe joints, and mass flow controllers.
