Professional Experience
Mr. Kawai is the Executive Director of Global Operations at SUGIMURA. His responsibility includes development and deepening business relations with overseas associates and clients, directing strategic communications.
Mr. Kawai’s practice encompasses patent prosecution in electrical engineering, information technology and mechanical engineering. He has particular expertise in the areas of image processors, object detection device/software, navigation systems, e-commerce, telecommunications, plant monitoring systems, medical devices, aircraft gears, automobiles, and automobile parts. Prior to joining SUGIMURA, he began his career as a system engineer at TIS Inc. before transitioning to the IP department, where he handled patent and trademark fillings, as well as drafting and negotiating licensing and joint venture agreements. During his graduate studies at The George Washington University and early in his career, Mr. Kawai spent time in Washington, D.C., Boston and Palo Alto in the United States.
